About Matt:
Matt Stevens is a musician and composer from North London. He uses an acoustic guitar and a sampler to create multi layered tracks live. This is often called Live Looping. His music is compared with artists as diverse as John Mclaughlin and Sigur Ros. He plays live all over the UK. Last year saw the release of the Parks EP Box Set on KEA records that sold out. A debut album Echo is released this year.He also produces a regular podcast, a blog, facebook, youtube and a myspace.

Hello all - been away for a while. The gig a couple of weeks ago was great - packed room and a great crowd many of whom said nice things and actually listened. I may have to do a few more gigs - played the first time with the Whammy pedal - made loads of strange noises and tried out some My Bloody Valentine backwards loops. Played Big Sky for the first time - it went done well.

Album track by track
All about my album part one......
The Rules:
1 - All sounds to be produced by one acoustic guitar (hitting it, looping it, overdubbing it, volume swells etc)
2 - The songs to be recorded as close as possible to "Live"
We did bend these rules as making a good record was the real point of the project (we added a few hand claps and some stomping on one song). I'm really pleased with the finished results.

- Well, THAT flame war's over. Examining my old 4-track to see where the Big Mechanical Buzz comes from - God I hate BELTS. But it's the only unit I could find that had the same order of tracks on the tape (Portastudios don't run at the same speed sometimes either!).
